Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. "It's alive!" he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.

The Players by the Sea Theatre Ensemble at Savannah State University invites the community to experience A Raisin in the Sun, Lorraine Hansberry’s groundbreaking drama about family, ambition, racial inequality, and the pursuit of the American Dream. Performances will take place November 12–13 at 7:00 p.m. and November 14 at 2:00 p.m. in Kennedy Fine Arts Theatre on the Savannah State University campus. First premiering on Broadway in 1959, A Raisin in the Sun remains one of the most influential and widely studied plays in American theatre. Set in Chicago’s South Side during the 1950s, the play follows the Younger family as they confront difficult choices surrounding an unexpected financial opportunity. As each family member dreams of a better future, they must navigate generational conflict, economic hardship, racial discrimination, and the question of what it truly means to achieve the American Dream. At the heart of Hansberry’s enduring story is a family determined to claim a future beyond the limitations society has placed upon them. With its powerful exploration of identity, dignity, homeownership, and the right to dream, A Raisin in the Sun continues to resonate with audiences across generations. The Players by the Sea production features a talented ensemble of Savannah State University performers, starring Malachi Chaney, Charity Ferguson, Aniya Sims, Aniya Blanchett, Kairi Russell, Devon Dixon, Jamaan Johnson, Nic Ferry, Kareem McMichael, Synclair Francis, Matthew Furtch, Cornelious Carter and Xavier Braswell. The production is directed by Assistant Professor Tomica S. Jenkins, head of the Performing Arts Program at Savannah State University.
